Let's meet emanuel!

Emanuel is a creative, visionary, and strategic young professional with a bachelor's degree in Secondary Education with a concentration in History, a Master's degree in Educational Leadership and currently pursuing a Ed.D. in Curriculum and Teaching with a sub-specialty in Learning Technology. With more than five years of experience in teaching students from diverse backgrounds in Puerto Rico and the United States, Emanuel is focused on helping young students achieve their academic and professional goals.

Believer in the new generations and 
great supporter of them

From an early age or teenage years, Emanuel was a leader in his community. He worked as a percussion leader, choreography helper, and community leader. From there, he supported and guided many children and young adults on focusing on their education through music and other educational activities. His responsibilities as leader of this group included but were not limited to handling the planning and logistics of fundraising efforts, community activities and professional development initiatives for young adults.

At the age of 23, he began his career in Education as an instructor at the University of the East (UNE) in Puerto Rico. During this time, Emanuel was part of a program helping adult learners obtain their high school diplomas. After his involvement with UNE, he secured a position with the Department of Education in Puerto Rico as a high school teacher. This new professional endeavor consisted of creating and developing a history courses and curriculum for diverse students. Moreover, Emanuel was an advocate for high school students, a role that led to leading participation and created variety of activities.

After spending a few years teaching in Puerto Rico, Emanuel pursued a professional opportunity in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. This opportunity allowed him to become a World Class Language teacher leading lessons focusing on Spanish as a second language, to a diverse group of students. From his classroom, he established the GSA Club (Gay, Straight Alliance) for middle schoolers. Also, he participated in the edition of the Spanish curriculum by offering suggestions with native resources and other strategic activities for his students.

This visionary and innovative educator served as the Educational Coordinator of Professional and International Experiences at the University of Sagrado Corazón in Puerto Rico. As part of his role at that time, Emanuel coordinated/hosted conferences, facilitated workshops, provided individualized advising for students, made alliances with other universities and employers, and collaborated in the career readiness curriculum at Sagrado. Additionally, he contributed to increasing student engagement and retention by developing educational and professional activities.

Now he guides virtual students throughout their academic journey at Universidad Albizu. By offering integrated technical and academic support. As the first point of contact, he addresses both academic and non-academic needs, aiming to eliminate barriers to learning competencies. Additionally, he equips students with effective technology usage tools and identifies and eliminates barriers to student success. He also supports the Student Success office within the New Digital Learning Unit, contributing to the implementation of the Online Student Success Portal. Furthermore, this role culminates with the development of articles and publications as a strategic approach to enhance student retention.
